Once reconnected, Windows will see my monitor as Dell U2412M again. Installing monitor drivers while not recognized does not help.

I have found no way in software or hardware to force this handshake. Unplugging the power cable worked just now, I have not tested it enough to say if itĪlways works. Unplugging the DisplayPort cable works every time. Once I unplug the monitor, and reconnect it, it will perform whatever handshake is done once more, and it always works.

Right now, in AMD Catalyst Control Center, it even says "No Display Connected", despite it being enabled and working in the 640x480 I've personally seen it show up as Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I've seen some say it'll show up as Generic PnP Monitor.

Windows 10 boots and wakes up, and the graphics card attempts to do something akin to a displayport handshake with the Dell monitor. I don't know the displayport protocols, but it appears something like this happens:

In multiple monitor setups, I don't know. It's a Dell problem, and it appears to be a Dell + DisplayPort + Windows 10 problem. This is reported for all major graphics card series, but I've only seen Dell monitors mentioned, and I've only seen it on these 24" monitors too. Monitors, and I can't see what I'm doing. Which is a major pain since the monitor is fixed to the wall as the middle of three I have unplugged and replugged the monitor 30+ times already. Every time I reboot or wake up the machine, the Dell monitor will fall back to 640x480 resolution. This problem does not happen with my other computer (win8), Once again I was able to correct by unplugging and re-plugging in the display port cable. Windows 10 has attempted to re-adjust my monitor to 640x480 again today after installing updates. Unplugging the display port and reconnecting seems to force a reset Immediately the monitor jumped to its native resolution, problem solved. In complete frustration I disconnected the displayport cable to check for dust and tried reconnecting it.

I tried this again and again with various driver versions with no effect. I uninstalled the graphics drivers and installed the latest nVidia drivers, but thisĭid not solve the problem. I tried powering down and restarting both the laptop and the monitor several times with no improvement. The advanced display settings screen in windows 10 listed 640x480Īs the ONLY display resolution possible for the monitor. I also this problem only a few days after installing windows 10 where my 24" monitors resolution was downgraded to 640X480 with no way in windows to set it back to native resolution. So I guess while updating from Win7 to Win10, the DisplayPort and/or the U2412M was just stuck in some weird state that its just stuck at 640x480, and only unplug/replug the DisplayPort can allow the display protocol to be re-established correctly. Of uninstall/re-install of the graphic card driver (I'm using Raedon HD 6850 in my pc), and many many system restart, the resolution was still stuck at 640x480.And AMD Crystal Control Center still reported detecting only "unknown" display.įinally I saw your post and solve the issue by just unplug and replug the Displayport cable behind my pc! Everything is back to normal with U2412M running at native 1920x1200!!! Once I updated to Windows 10, the resolution became restricted to 640x480 only, and despite all the trails

I have my computer connected to the the U2412M via DisplayPort, running Windows 7 originally, and all was nice with resolution at native 1920x1200. Yes! i have the exact same thing happening to me. Is there any way to fix this issue or it's not a monitor related issue? Is there any tools can do a hardware pre test and tell the users PC are able to upgrade or not?īTW, the EDGE browser seems does not support this forum. So I thought it maybe a monitor driver issue, then I go to the DELL website to find the newĭriver for Win 10, but no luck, DELL said that this monitor does not support Win 10. Then I've checked the device management and cannot found Dell U2412M in the monitor list. First, I have upgrade the NVidia NVS 4200m driver, no luck. Seems I lost my monitor driver for Win 10, this monitor was works after the upgrade process, but today (2 days after the OS upgrade) the screen resolution were changed to 640*480 and I cannot adjust the screen resolution, somehow the resolution was locked
